THE NSCC
The independent club for those interested
in collecting and racing slot cars.
Welcome to the NSCC!
30 enthusiasts formed the NSCC in 1980
to bring together people who collected, raced and played with Scalextric.
Since then the club has grown to around 1000 members worldwide.
Come and
join us, make new friends, learn more about your hobby and, most of all,
enjoy yourself.
Collecting and racing Scalextric and other brands of slot
car is great fun and an immensely rewarding hobby. It provides a window
in miniature on motor sport and its history. It is a sociable activity for
family and friends to enjoy together whether you have a temporary track
in the lounge or a larger permanent layout in the loft or garage. Kids enjoy
it immensely and can use it to pick up mechanical and electrical concepts.
The interests of collectors are many and various. Some
collect brands or subsets of brands; some collect particular types of
car – F1 or
GT for example. Some go for products with links to TV and film. Some prefer
historic cars; some like those with higher play value such as off-road systems.
Some just collect things they like. Whatever your motoring interests or
whichever direction you come to slot cars from, there’s a place in
the club for you.

In recent years there has been a resurgence of interest in
the hobby. Several new companies have entered the market and products have
improved in both quality and variety. Digital racing has also arrived,
which, depending on the system, caters for up to 4, 6 or 8 cars on a multiple-lane
track so you can change lanes and overtake your competitors. Scalextric often appears on TV in adverts, or programmes such as The Gadget Show and James May's Toy Stories.
There are many slot car racing clubs around the country where
people of all ages can prepare and race their cars against other enthusiasts,
or you can even start your own. You will also often find slot car
racing being used in corporate team-building, environmental awareness and
other promotional events.
And if you are organising a Scalextric-related event, why
not send us some details and be added to our calendar?

If you are interested in collecting or racing this type of
slot car we look forward to welcoming you into the club, where you can discover
how to get the most out of this unique hobby.
Members receive a monthly Journal in the post with all the latest news, and access to special slot car events and limited edition cars such as this one for Milton Keynes 2012. You will find the NSCC stand at most major UK slot car swapmeets - look for our signage as shown in the photo. Or you can join online here.
